There are a few essential things a good music teacher does:
♪ Teach how to read and understand music (music theory)

♪ Help choose music that fits the instrument so students can continually grow (repertoire)
♪ Teach how to use hands/body to make the best sounds and avoid injury (technique)

My name is Janice Eckworth; Sanisi is my nickname from birth. My dad wanted to give me a Polynesian name, but my Mom couldn’t pronounce any of them. It is a mock Hawaiian translation of Janice. Sanisi is pronounced “Sah-nee-see.”

I was born and raised in Fargo and returned in 2015 after living in England for 10 years. I had both of my sons in England.

20170509_144340I love being a music teacher. It’s amazing how much you can learn through PLAYING! A great deal of beginner theory is learned through music games at Sanisi Music Studio. I love games.

My teaching focus is to emphasize music reading and body awareness to avoiding tension and create good sound (aka technique). Theory is taught gradually and continually directly related to the students’ level and the music they are currently playing.
